Mihalis, a young resident of Kos, attends the 2nd High School of the island along with his classmates. Mihalis shows great interest in music as well as the fields of chemistry and biology. In his free time, he relaxes by playing video games and listening to music, while he enjoys practicing his musical interest by playing the piano.
At school, he really enjoys the fact that he can study and learn more about the sciences, especially chemistry and biology, which, as he explained, are his main interests. Additionally, Mihalis appreciates the opportunity his school provides to interact and socialize with his peers! “At school I am happy to be able to engage in different subjects related to my interests while also spending time with my friends!”
Mihalis recalls his first session with The Tipping Point, held at his school, and the impression created by the mentor's presence through a video call and the substantial communication during the session.
However, one session stood out for Mihalis. "The group session that resonated with me the most was the one about health sciences, something that interests me." Mihalis had the chance to hear from professionals in his field of interest, and as he pointed out, it was an experience that significantly helped him gain a better understanding of the professional field. "I listened carefully to the speaker, took notes, and felt relieved that details like working in a laboratory are not so different from what I expected."
He continues to talk about his plans for the future and his studies. "In the future, I hope to attend a university to study pharmacy," while acknowledging the mentor's contribution in shaping their paths. "I believe that the mentors' advice and words will help me smoothly transition into this new environment."
Mihalis concludes by sharing, “My participation in the program helped me develop my ability to attend lectures, engage in discussions, and listen carefully to a speaker.”
